Las Vegas Raiders: Antonio Pierce Breaks Silence About Davante Adams Trade Rumors

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce has finally spoken up about the rumors that their wideout Davante Adams wants out of the team. While he did like a social media post suggesting his openness about the idea, he has come around to clear things up from his side.

The head coach talked to the press on Monday, discussing a number of topics including Adams’ trade demand. When asked where the situation “went sideways” with Adams, he had a quick, short response to the question.

“I don’t know. You gotta ask Davante that,” he said.

Since the trade rumors blew up, Davante Adams has been strongly linked to the New York Jets, where his ex-Green Bay Packers teammate Aaron Rodgers currently suits up for; and the Pittsburgh Stellers, a team that badly needs a WR2 after they traded Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers.

Antonio Pierce talks about QB1 situation after benching of Gardner Minshew

In the Raiders’ 18-34 loss to the Denver Broncos, quarterback Gardner Minshew only managed to score 137 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions from 12 completions before sophomore Aidan O’Connell took his spot on the field and added another pick.

A dejected Minshew talked to the media after the game. “I thought we got off to a good start. Then I killed off our momentum with a pick-six and at the end of the day, I didn’t do a good enough job giving us a shot to be competitive in this game,” he said.

“That’s on me, I’ll get back to work and keep going. No matter what my role is on the team, I’m gonna help the team any way I can, the quarterback added.”

In the same media interview, Raiders coach Antonio Pierce agreed with Minshew’s insight.

“That was very deflating. I think everybody understood and saw that… Offensively, we kind of hit the mud,” Pierce said. “It’s all about the football. You’ve got to protect the football. The easiest way to lose the game is turnovers.”

The Raiders will face the Steelers next, and Pierce may be entertaining the idea of switching to O’Connell.

“We know what we’re going to get with Aidan, right? That back foot hits the ground, ball comes out, he’s a cerebral player, knows where the ball needs to go. I’ve seen enough of Aidan last year, the spring, to know what to expect from (him),” the Raiders coach said.
