If you watched any of the Steelers from preseason until now this is all you hear, KENNY! Fans have been booing every Steelers Quarterback and chanting for Kenny Pickett. With recent struggles on the offense and a lackluster performance from Mitch Trubisky in back to back weeks let’s break down if its time.

Is Kenny Pickett ready to be QB1

The hype has been around the hometown kid since day one of being drafted. The Steelers mentioned it was going to be a open QB battle. However from day one Mitch was named a starter. There was little reason to believe anyone but him would open up week one. With recent struggles and an offense who has only put up 2 touchdowns in as many games, is it time?

At this point my opinion is no. A Short week ahead with the Steelers geared up for the Browns on Thursday night I say no. Why throw Kenny to the wolves in this situation? I believe if at all this season the Steelers should wait until their upcoming game against the Jets. The Jets have a sneaky good defense but they are one of the lesser opponents the Steelers will face this year. This seems to be the most logical timing to input the first round pick Kenny Pickett.

There is no denying what we saw from him in preseason. I know, all three quarterbacks looked decent and scored touchdowns without turning the ball over. However, I said this before and I will say it again, Kenny looked the most comfortable. He was reading the defense as he should and was putting the ball where it needed to be before his receivers even turned around. His trust in his guys and confidence to make these throws was the most efficient. I am not seeing anything close to that from Mitch Trubisky. Can we honestly say Kenny Pickett would not the same if not better?

    Conclusion

At the end of the day the Steelers invested a first round pick into Kenny. The guy will take over eventually and he’s also a 5 year college guy who is older than most qbs coming out of college. Pair that with his comfortability and a season that can spiral quickly, I would not be surprised to see him after the bye week if Mitch continues to struggle.
