Kenny Golladay had an unimpressive 2021 after signing a four-year, $72 million contract. He finished the year with just 37 receptions, 521 yards and no touchdowns. However, he enters the 2022 campaign with new expectations. It will be a new offense, with a new coach and hopefully some healthy complimentary weapons around him. Pro Football Focus also named Golladay a potential fantasy sleeper at the receiver position.
Offensive System
New head coach, Brian Daboll, succeeded using the hitch route during his time with the Buffalo Bills. In the last two seasons, the offense gained 1,616 yards on 162 receptions on the hitch route. Golladay thrives on that route and will look use that effectively this season. In addition, this are rumors that this coaching staff and front office want to get an accurate reading on Daniel Jones. In order to do that, they have to let him loose to see if he can make all the throws and understand the offense. This can lead to more deep throw opportunities for Golladay and hopefully more scoring chances as well.
Healthy Weapons
The Giants had a lot of injuries on the offensive side of the ball in 2021. They led the league with players on injured reserve with 23. In addition, they were among the worst in starts missed due to injury. Golladay himself missed three games and fellow wideouts Kadarius Toney and Sterling Shephard also missed almost half the season. Saquon Barkley missed four games and the offensive line was a turntable for players due to injuries.
Big Blue enters the 2022 season with a host of weapons on offense and a revamped offensive line. If everyone stays healthy its possible that Golladay can find himself having a strong season and proving his doubters wrong.
