While the Kansas Jayhawks taking on the UNLV Rebels wasn’t considered the marquee college football matchup Friday, the two teams went down to the wire.
UNLV continues to impress in the early part of the 2023 season with a 23-20 win over the Jayhawks, the second Power-Five opponent they’ve beaten this year.
The Rebels are now 3-0 for the first time since 1984, but Jayhawks fans took to social media to express their concern for what they thought to be lackluster officiating.
Fans are calling for the crew in the Kansas Jayhawks-UNLV Rebels game to be investigated
Multiple instances within the tight one-score matchup between the Jayhawks and the Rebels had fans vocal on social media.
Questionable spots, bizarre sequences and questionable pass-interference calls planted seeds of doubt in the minds of many viewers Friday.
Some fans think the officiating was so bad that they are sure the game was rigged from the start, while others blame the poor officiating on sheer incompetence from Friday’s crew. Either way, Kansas fans aren’t happy after moving to 1-2 in a season that was host to high expectations.
Kansas is getting absolutely robbed. Pass interference on an uncatchable ball then the refs don’t blow the play dead on a fumble recovery touchdown on 4th and 1……but then decide to call it dead after the TD and give UNLV a first down? How obvious can you make this rig job

This officiating crew in Kansas UNLV should never ref another game, Kansas just got flat out robbed
• Stripped for a fumble, but somehow progress was blown dead, he was short of line to gain when whistle was blown…

The refs in the Kansas/UNLV game should be investigated after this game

What a dumb f*****g sequence in Kansas football game. This is not a first down. They give it to him by a nose hair then call a 15 yard penalty on UNLV. pic.twitter.com/47uaWgmU04

This Kansas UNLV game might actually have been rigged. First down given at the 1 (he was short) followed by a 15 yard penalty so 1st and goal from the 16. UNLV proceeds to run 7 plays yes you saw that right, 7 plays from goal to go without a penalty! What the heck happened
