The Kansas City Chiefs have had a successful 2022 season and continued their success against the Las Vegas Raiders. Kansas City beat the Raiders 31-13 and clinched the number 1 seed in the AFC playoff picture. Andy Reid’s team has home-field advantage throughout the playoffs and the road to the Superbowl goes through Kansas City. The number 1 seed in each conference is awarded a bye at the beginning of the playoffs. Kansas City has time to rest and recover before their first playoff game.

The Kansas City Chiefs had to beat the Las Vegas Raiders to clinch the number 1 seed. Kansas City arrived in Vegas ready to play. Eric Bienemy’s offense executed throughout the game. Kansas City recorded 349 yards of offense and put pressure on the Raider’s defense. Early in the game, Patrick Mahomes completed a 67-yard pass to Justin Watson.  Kansas City mixed it up on offense. Kansas City was able to establish a run game and moved the ball down the field. Kansas City’s offensive line opened up holes in the run game and protected Patrick Mahomes. Kansas City recorded 168 rushing yards.

Kansas City’s defense also stepped up to the challenge. The defense forced two turnovers and made life hard for Jarrett Stidham. Kansas City’s defensive line recorded six sacks and pressured Stidham throughout the game. Kansas City’s defense tackled well, executed, and came to play.

    What’s Next?

The Chiefs have a week off and will recover mentally and physically. The Chiefs have to wait to see who they play. The NFL playoffs begin on January 14.  Kansas City can use its bye week to work on fundamentals, correct mistakes, and reset for the playoffs. No matter who the Chiefs draw they will be ready to play.
