If the Kansas City Chiefs want to complete a rare Super Bowl three-peat next season, they must be able to upgrade their wide receiver depth, and Robert Griffin III has an interesting proposal.
The former NFL signal-caller called for the back-to-back champions to sign Odell Beckham Jr. this offseason, insisting that he is still a “dynamic” wideout.
“The Chiefs SHOULD SIGN Odell Beckham Jr. Last year, he proved he is STILL DYNAMIC after being 8th in the NFL, averaging 16.1 yards per catch,” Griffin tweeted.
“The Chiefs struggled with drops last year, but OBJ had the lowest drop rate of his career with 1 drop on 64 targets (1.6%). Chief him,” he concluded.
Can Odell Beckham Jr. help the Kansas City Chiefs?
Odell Beckham Jr. went to Baltimore last season after returning from an ACL injury, which he sustained during the Los Angeles Rams’ recent Super Bowl triumph. He was ruled out for the entire 2022 because of it.
The three-time Pro Bowler recorded 35 receptions for 565 receiving yards and three touchdowns in 14 regular-season games played. Ironically, Beckham Jr’s 2023 campaign came to an end at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.
With the Kansas City Chiefs not having much in the wide receiver position, theoretically, getting Odell Beckham Jr. sounds like, at least, an interesting move. However, not everyone is thrilled with this idea, especially since he’s not getting any younger and because he’s dating Kim Kardashian.
Kansas City Chiefs fans aren’t exactly sold on OBJ
Most comments and RTs on Robert Griffin III’s tweet were against the idea of Odell Beckham Jr. joining the Kansas City Chiefs, saying that the 31-year-old is “too washed” and “too expensive.”
One fan also pointed out that signing Odell Beckham Jr. would cost the Kansas City Chiefs at least $15 million, but Robert Griffin III replied, “They won’t have to.”
