The Kansas City Chiefs are one of the most popular teams in the NFL. Given their recent run of success, which has included three Super Bowls in five years (and each of the last two), it is to be expected. Everybody loves a winner.

However, their popularity seemed to skyrocket last season when Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift made their relationship public. Swift, a 14-time Grammy Award winner, is arguably the most beloved musical artist in the world today. Her connection with Kelce and the Chiefs ushered in a whole new demographic of fans.

Ever since Swift showed up for Kansas City’s Week Two win over the Chicago Bears in September of 2023, there have been story after story written chronicling the couple’s relationship.

Swift’s attendance at Chiefs games became the subject of debate amongst fans on social media, many calling out the networks for giving her 10 seconds of screentime during a three hour game. However, her presence was highly beneficial to the NFL, which saw their viewership rise by tens of millions during Chiefs playoffs games in which she was in attendance.

Over the course of last offseason, the couple frequently made headlines abroad. Kelce visited Swift around the world as she traveled for her Eras Tour, visiting places like Singapore and the United Kingdom.

The coverage of their relationship continued into this season. Though the 14-time Grammy Award winner has limited her attendance to games to just Chiefs home games (for security reasons), she is brought up by commentators whenever Kansas City plays.

There Is Reportedly a Broadway Play in the Works Based on Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift

According to a report by The US Sun, there is apparently a Broadway play being written based on Swift and Kelce’s relationship.

“The U.S. Sun has been told about a play centered on their relationship, which the writers hope will be performed on a Broadway stage next year.

“According to a well-placed insider, the Canadian and American writing duo have presented their plan to Taylor and Travis.

“The couple have yet to answer, but the writing team is hopeful the show could start next summer.

“The 75-minute show, claims the source, is about the duo’s relationship, how they met, and their life as one of the most famous power couples in the world.”

Of course, this would not be the first time an NFL player had his life, or a portion of his life, made into a play or movie. Bears legends Brian Piccolo and Gale Sayers were the subjects of the 1971 film Brian’s Song, for example.
