Many fans may have been complaining about the NFL showing Taylor Swift too much during Kansas City Chiefs games. Nonetheless, new data suggest that Travis Kelce’s girlfriend might be the team’s lucky charm after all.
As everyone knows, the Chiefs recently won Super Bowl 58 against the San Francisco 49ers with Swift in attendance. The pop star even flew all the way from Japan after her Eras Tour concert in the county just to make the game and show her support for her boyfriend.
Is Taylor Swift the Kansas City Chiefs’ Lucky Charm?
It might be a coincidence that the Chiefs often win and tend to play better when Swift is in attendance, or some could argue that the Kansas City franchise is just that good.
Nonetheless, there are numbers to back up the argument that Swift is the Chiefs’ lucky charm and they just play better when she’s around.
According to the data analyzed by Casino Review in the Chiefs’ 2023 games, the team averaged 23.8 points per game in those matches that Swift attended. The number falls to 19.4 in games that the singer wasn’t able to cheer them on.
That’s a four-point difference. And when you consider the fact that the Chiefs beat the 49ers by just three points, 25-22, in Super Bowl 58, it’s worth wondering if they could have won it without the presence of Kelce’s partner.
Making the Swift case stronger is the fact that the Chiefs defend better with her cheering them on, allowing just 16.4 points compared to the 17.3 points when she’s not there.
“Taylor Swift has been a huge talking point of this NFL season, with her appearances and game-day outfits dominating media coverage across the world,” CasinoReviews project manager Nikoleta Kuncheva said of their findings.
“There has been some debate over whether the popstar’s presence is a distraction for both Kelce and the Chiefs. But these findings suggest Swift may actually be a lucky charm for the team, with more points scored, fewer conceded and a higher win percentage when she’s spotted cheering them on. Swift made it to Las Vegas in time for Sunday’s showdown, helping cheer the Chiefs on to their fourth Super Bowl victory.”
Taylor Swift Appearance in Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl 58 Win
The NFL and Kansas City Chiefs definitely had a great time showing Taylor Swift in broadcast during the recent Super Bowl 58.
According to other reports, Swift was shown for a total of 54 seconds in Super Bowl 58, which equates to a little over $18 million worth of free advertising for herself.
Nonetheless, that pales in comparison to the brand value that she has brought to the NFL so far. As shared previously, Swift has generated $331 million worth of value to both the Chiefs and the league.
True enough, Swift has given the NFL so much.
