The Kansas City Chiefs players who received their Super Bowl rings on Thursday night were gushing over the beautiful jewelry. But the rings fell short of being masterpieces as reporters discovered a significant flaw on the inside part of the shank. The Chiefs might have to return the rings to fix a typo.

As previously discussed on GH, the Chiefs ring has 529 diamonds and 38 rubies. The designs on the ring are used to tell a story:
The top of the ring includes the Chiefs’ interlocking arrowhead logo made from 16 custom-cut rubies to represent the 16 outright division titles in franchise history. The arrowhead is crafted in yellow gold and set with 50 diamonds, symbolizing the Chiefs’ outscoring opponent by 50 points at Arrowhead Stadium during the regular season.
The logo sits atop four Lombardi Trophies, each set with a single marquise diamond to signify the Kansas City Chiefs‘ four Super Bowl titles. The bases of the Trophies are adorned with 19 baguette diamonds, paying homage to the team’s achievement as the first to win back-to-back Super Bowl titles in 19 years.
There are 58 diamonds set in the ring top as a tribute to Super Bowl LVIII. Also, there are 11 custom-cut rubies adorning both edges of the ring top, symbolizing the Chiefs’ 11 regular-season wins in 2023.
The ring has an unfinished typo
One of the storylines has a typo. The Chiefs included all four of their postseason scores on the inside of the shank, and their opponents’ seeds were put in brackets. The idea was to highlight the Chiefs’ journey to having the best playoff run in NFL history.
However, Joshua Brisco with Arrowhead Report noticed a typo. The Miami Dolphins were not the seventh seed in the AFC; they were the sixth seed.
That’s an unfortunate mistake on a $40,000 ring. One wonders how that detail went unnoticed as the Chiefs released photos of the ring before delivering them to their players.
The Chiefs might have to send the rings back to fix the typo

It’s unclear how the mistake happened and how the Chiefs will try to remedy it. GH reached out to the ring maker, Jostens, for comment on the mistake. They have not returned our messages by this publication.
The Chiefs players will likely have to return the rings to fix the typo. However, some players might decide to keep the ring as it is for posterity. The historic Super Bowl run and the typo on the Super Bowl ring will make for a classic NFL story about the Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid era with the Chiefs.
