As the college football season looms closer and closer, there is a star transfer wide receiver that is facing arrest for numerous charges. New Oklahoma receiver Deion Burks was arrested last week for three separate driving misdemeanor charges earlier this month.
New Oklahoma Reciver Arrested For Multiple DUIs
Per OU Insider’s Jesse Crittenden, the court documents revealed that Burks was admitted into a Cleveland County jail on June 1st for speeding while driving under the influence. Additionally he was charged for having an open bottle of alcohol as well as the two previous charges.
According to the police report, Burks was going more than 25 MPH over the speed limit when he was topped at around 2:40 A.M. He was also reportedly swerving before he was pulled over. When the cops pulled the young receiver over, one of the officers reportedly saw an empty bottle of tequila in the car. Burls admitted to the police that he had two shots before driving.
Burks tested over the legal alcohol limit and was arrested after getting pulled over. An Oklahoma spokesperson had a quick statement on the matter:
“We are aware of the matter and it is being addressed internally,” an Oklahoma spokesperson said.
Burks had just transferred to Oklahoma this past December, after a very solid season at Purdue where he totaled: 47 catches for 629 yards and seven touchdowns. Burks is a former 4 star recruit was able to find the end zone against both Ohio State and Michigan, two of the top defenses in the country last season.
Burks was a key offseason pick up for the Sooners, whos offense was clicking last season. This will be the first year the Sooners will play in the SEC and they will need all the help they can get. However, he is not the team’s only legal issue at the moment.
Burks arrest was circulating simultaneously with the news of their defensive back Makari Vickers getting arrested as well. However, there are no additional details about the arrest at the moment.
