Kansas City Chiefs Fans Irate Over Team Keeping Struggling Wide Receiver on 53-Man Roster – REPORT

On Tuesday, the Kansas City Chiefs announced a wave of roster cuts, including dismissing a trio of veteran wide receivers. Kansas City cut Kadarius Toney, Justyn Ross, and Nikko Remigio while also parting ways with pass-catchers Kyle Sheets and Phillip Brooks. In the fallout of the Chiefs’ roster cuts, the AFC East club has decided to keep three-year vet Skyy Moore despite his documented struggles in recent years.

Moore, a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, has had ample opportunity to earn a significant role in Andy Reid’s offense. However, drops and inconsistencies have buried the Purdue product on the Kansas City depth chart. With Tuesday’s news, Chiefs fans are shocked over the team’s front office keeping Moore over a quartet of other pass-catchers.

The Kansas City Chiefs shuffled their receiver room on Tuesday, letting go of four wide receivers ahead of mandatory roster cuts. Kansas City also added former Super Bowl-winning wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster earlier this week, likely influencing their roster cuts. However, former top draft pick Skyy Moore survived roster cuts and will make the 53-man roster. According to the Kansas City Chiefs source, The Reid Option:

The # Chiefs’ initial wide receiver room:

    – Rashee Rice

    – Marquise Brown

    – Xavier Worthy

    – JuJu Smith-Schuster

    – Justin Watson

    – Mecole Hardman

    – Skyy Moore

An insanely upgraded room compared to last year.

The Kansas City Chiefs opted to keep Moore over disgruntled pass-catcher Kadarius Toney and former top college star Justyn Ross. Moore finished last season with 21 receptions for 244 yards and one touchdown in 14 games. Moore started six of his team’s first seven games before giving way to rookie pass-catcher Rashee Rice. He missed the end of the regular season while on injured reserve but returned for the postseason. He did not record a stat.

Moore had a more productive season as a rookie in 2022, securing 22 receptions for 250 yards and zero scores. The 54th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Moore snagged five receptions for 17 yards in the playoffs, highlighted by a touchdown grab in the Super Bowl. Moore’s shortcomings last season and underwhelming training camp (including zero preseason receptions) had led to Kansas City fans assuming the five-foot-ten wideout was on the way out with the Chiefs. With Kansas City announcing on Tuesday that they will keep his services, Chiefs devotees flooded social media to share their disbelief:

We know who and what Skyy Moore is.

    Not a good football player.

Keeping him for another season would make ZERO sense. pic.twitter.com/tdasCnsOsd
