One of the shooters during the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade reportedly admitted that he first fired the shots following an argument with a group of individuals.
Lyndell Mays, who was charged for murder for the shooting, admitted that it was a “stupid” action and expressed regret over his decision that took the life of one person and injured 22 others, many of whom were in critical and serious conditions.
Kansas City Chiefs Parade Shooter Speaks
According to the court documents obtained by TMZ, Mays initially claimed that he didn’t shoot at anyone. But after police informed him that there is a surveillance video of the incident, the shooter changed his story and revealed what transpired that led to the shooting.
Apparently, Mays was having an argument with a group. One person from the said group then allegedly threatened him and said, “I’m going to get you.” Mays interpreted it as a threat to his life and that he would be killed.
Mays then acted and confirmed to shoot first, though he said that he hesitated because there were children. The documents noted that Mays wasn’t shooting at anyone because he believed some of those people he’s arguing with could have had guns as well.
Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Parade Shooting: Juvenile Clarification
It is worth noting that police arrested three people immediately in the wake of the shooting. While one has been released after it was revealed they are not involved with the incident, the two others were charged with crimes.
However, police didn’t reveal their identities because they are juveniles. In Missouri, juvenile cases are often kept confidential.
Now, in light of the charges to Mays and Miller, it is important to highlight that they are not the juveniles that were arrested.
The identity of the two remain private, but they are still facing crimes and could still be charged.
