The Kansas City Chiefs and head coach Andy Reid are entering 2024 with the chance to compete for their third-straight Super Bowl title and fourth in five seasons.
After it took 21 seasons for Reid to finally capture a Super Bowl title, Reid is seeking his third-straight Super Bowl to continue the almost unstoppable run since the franchise landed Patrick Mahomes as its starting QB. Reid is just the fourth coach to make five Super Bowl appearances, a third Super Bowl title would put Reid with Bill Belichick, Chuck Noll, Bill Walsh and Joe Gibbs as the only head coaches to win at least three Super Bowl titles.
Reid has never had a losing season with Kansas City in his 11 seasons, and has double-digit win seasons in each of the last 10 years. During that stretch, Reid has eight straight AFC West championships, six straight conference championship appearances, four AFC Championships and two Super Bowl titles. The Chiefs are just the third team in NFL history to make four Super Bowls in a five-season span, joining the 1990-1993 Buffalo Bills and the 2014-2018 New England Patriots

Reid was granted a contract extension in the offseason and as long as Mahomes is under center, it feels like the Chiefs will be the team to beat in the NFL. Still, with so much money slotted to the top QB in the NFL — and a major offseason deal on defense this offseason to lock down Chris Jones — it’s been impossible to keep the team in tact season after season, yet Reid still finds a way to make Super Bowl runs, year after year.
Reid and Mahomes can’t take all the credit, though, Chiefs GM Brett Veach has had the task of filling holes when the team has been forced to move on from premium talent and he’s done it to perfection. As it stands, this year’s roster looks more talented than last years, where Mahomes was forced to get the ball to Travis Kelce and lean on rookie Rashee Rice as his top wideout. Although Rice got better as the season went on and contributed in a major way, his status for 2024 remains uncertain with pending legal issues hanging over his head.
But Veach went out and signed Hollywood Brown as a proven downfield threat and added the fastest wideout in the draft by selecting Xavier Worthy from Texas in the first round. If all three of those receivers can be on the field at once it will be hard to stop the KC offense.
Now that Mahomes has reliable targets, Bleacher Report believes it’s time for the organization to kick the tires on a recent second round WR that hasn’t produced like they had hoped.
Kansas City Chiefs Urged To Cut Ties With WR Skyy Moore

Obviously, Rice’s status bears watching with a potential suspension looming, but the Chiefs have done well to improve this position overall since Tyreek Hill left to join the Miami Dolphins. Having said that, not every Hill replacement has panned out for general manager Brett Veach and the Kansas City front office.
And the immediate successor has been one of the least effective.
“In 2022, the Kansas City Chiefs drafted Western Michigan wideout Skyy Moore in the second round,” Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport noted on June 3. Adding: “To say that Moore has been a disappointment to date is an understatement—he has yet to eclipse 250 receiving yards in a season.”

Davenport went on to argue that KC should “get what they can and move on” from Moore via trade. “[The newfound WR depth] affords Kansas City the opportunity to rid themselves of another mistake,” the writer reasoned, hinting Moore might fetch some sort of return compared to a lost cause like Kadarius Toney
Parting ways with Moore or Toney frees up one to two jobs. The Kansas City Chiefs could also add another veteran like Michael Thomas in place of a departure — given Rice’s uncertain future.
It should be noted that Veach supported both Moore and Toney publicly ahead of the draft.
“Skyy has always been a mentally tough kid,” the Chiefs GM said at the time. “He had that knee injury last year, too. So, to some degree, [it’s] just these guys being on the field and staying healthy, and then making plays when their number is called.”
