The Kansas City Chiefs made a move that had their quarterback smiling. The Chiefs signed a one-year deal with speedy wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown.
The defending Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs put fear in its opponents’ hearts this evening by signing Marquise Brown to a one-year deal worth up to $11 million.
Although Super Bowl Champions, Kansas City sometimes struggled on offense during the regular season. The team was number one in the NFL in drop rate. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes was much more reserved, passing the ball—shorter, more efficient passes.
Patrick Mahomes is smiling after the signing. He might get some more opportunities to throw the ball down the field.

Kansas City Chiefs Passing Attack
As the season progressed, Mahomes was able to give Rashee Rice a significant role in the offense. He had 79 receptions for 938 yards. He backed up an impressive rookie season with an even better playoff run. In the playoffs, he had 26 receptions for 262 yards.
The steadiness of Rice, coupled with the playmaking ability of Hollywood, will undoubtedly give Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and the rest of that offense the ability to make plays in 2024.
Hollywood Reactions
Hollywood Brown is one of the first people besides Mahomes to check in with. He’s excited.

Hollywood Brown Production
He entered the NFL as the Ravens’ 25th pick in the 2019 draft. He has 313 career receptions for 3,644 yards and 28 touchdowns. His lone 1,000-yard season came in 2021 when he caught 91 passes for 1,008 yards for Baltimore.
Hollywood was traded to the Cardinals by the Ravens in 2022 but did not get the long-term deal he sought leading into the 2023 campaign. He was also bothered by a heel injury last season.
Brown, who turns 27 on June 4, finished 2023 with a career-low 574 yards in 14 games. He had 51 catches and four touchdowns on 101 targets, his third straight year with triple-digit targets. Quarterback Kyler Murray’s absence for a large chunk of the early season, as well as injury, played a role in that.
Most would assume production will increase with Patrick Mahomes throwing him the ball.
