The Kansas City Chiefs sit atop the NFL world after besting the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl, winning their second straight title and third in five years. Despite their recent run of near-unprecedented success, the NFLPA released its second player survey report card on Wednesday, with the AFC West club receiving the worst owner grade. Per NFL insider Ari Meirov, the Chiefs’ Clark Hunt received a grade of F-, the worst among the 32 owners in the NFL.
However, head coach Andy Reid received an A+ among his peers, sharing the achievement with the Lions’ Dan Campbell and the Vikings’ Kevin O’Connell. Kansas City also received a C+ grade for weight room.
Kansas City Chiefs: Owner Clark Hunt Earns Title of ‘Least Willing to Invest’
The Kansas City Chiefs have won back-to-back Super Bowls, but the recent NFLPA report suggests it had little to do with owner Clark Hunt. The chairman and CEO of the Chiefs earned the worst grade among his fellow owners. However, the Chiefs spent $194 million in active salary last season, the top mark in the NFL. Most of the team’s salary cap hit came from two-time NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes and star defensive lineman Chris Jones. Meanwhile, Kansas City ranks near the best in the NFL among the least dead cap money. Hunt will need to renegotiate the contract for Chris Jones this offseason as the now-three-time Super Bowl champion could become a free agent.

Hunt’s league-worst mark comes on the heels of the Chiefs receiving the second-to-worst grade for workplace conditions. Kansas City posted a D+ or worse in treating families, the locker room, the training room, travel, training staff, and nutrition departments. On Wednesday, Hunt addressed the workplace issues, saying, “The practice facility is certainly a high priority for us.”
Chiefs: Talk of Newest NFLPA Player Poll
The NFLPA’s most recent player survey posted a large discrepancy among the Kansas City Chiefs’ higher-ups. With head coach Andy Reid earning the top spot among his peers and owner Clark Hunt receiving the worst mark from an owner’s perspective, players now have ample information regarding the organization’s inner workings. Last year, player grades became an annual tradition to publicly inform the pending free agents about an organization’s ins and outs.
Despite a top-tier head coach, elite quarterback, and back-to-back Super Bowls, the Chiefs are now in the spotlight for poor amenities around the facility. Hunt’s comments on the matter suggest he is prepared to improve the conditions of his team’s facilities.
