The Kansas City Chiefs and their family members, lovers, and acquaintances have been anything but apolitically this year. From Super Bowl conspiracies about Travis Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, endorsing Joe Biden to kicker Harrison Butker’s controversial commencement address, the Chiefs have been making political headlines in an election year.
Brittany Mahomes wades into politics
Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes, waded into the political theatre recently when she liked an Instagram post about Republican nominee Donald Trump’s platform for the US if he wins the election in November.
Like Butker, Brittany faced immediate backlash on social media for liking the post. On Saturday afternoon, many people were still commenting on Brittany’s expression on social media.
Brittany responded on her Instagram by calling out haters:
“To be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood. There’s no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well.”
Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes tolerates others’ beliefs
Patrick, like most NFL quarterbacks, knows how to handle the media. When Butker made his controversial comments, Patrick was careful not to state what he believes but said he accepted other points of view in the locker room:
Per USA Today:
“When you’re in the locker room, there’s a lot of people from different areas of life and they have a lot of different views on everything. We’re not always going to agree. And there’s certain things that he said that I don’t necessarily agree with, but I understand the person that he is and he’s trying to do whatever he can to lead people in the right direction.
It might not be the same values that I have, but I’m going to judge him by the character that he shows every single day.”
Social media responds to Brittany Mahomes’ response
Brittany’s message didn’t sit well with the people who were upset with the first like of Trump’s message. Others support Brittany in standing up for what she believes in.
Good for her, no one should be afraid or bullied into saying, believing or voting a certain way. The 1st amendment is there for a reason.

Brittany Mahomes has earned me as a fan. She thinks, is not brainwashed and won’t be pressured. Good for her for having integrity.

Between Harrison Butker and Brittany Mahomes I hope the chiefs don’t have any success this season.
