Justin Jefferson Minnesota Vikings Contract Details Revealed

Justin Jefferson’s monumental contract extension with the Minnesota Vikings did much more than reset the wide receiver market.

Jefferson’s contract comes on the heels of Amon-Ra St. Brown, A.J. Brown, Tyreek Hill, DeVonta Smith, and Jaylen Waddle among the receivers across the league to sign mega-extensions so far this offseason.

Obviously, CeeDee Lamb and Brandon Aiyuk are among the most invested parties in seeing Jefferson raise the bar to new heights amid their own negotiations with the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers, respectively.

Jefferson’s contract is a four-year pact worth $140 million, includes $110 guaranteed, with a signing bonus of $88.7 million, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

That’s quite a commitment from the Vikings, who also chose wide receiver Jordan Addison with the No. 23 overall pick just last spring.

“Justin is an exceptionally talented player and an incredible person that I am honored to coach and have as a team captain,” head coach Kevin O’Connell said in a statement. “His positive energy and love for the game shows up every single day as he works to be the best at his craft. As coaches, we will do our part in helping him maximize his ability. I’m grateful to the Wilfs, Kwesi, Rob Brzezinski and our staff for ensuring one of the brightest stars in professional sports will continue his career as a Minnesota Viking.”

Likewise, Jefferson’s contract isn’t just a record for wide receivers, the 24-year-old is now the highest-paid non-quarterback across the NFL, by AAV.

Here’s a breakdown:

  1. Justin Jefferson WR, Minnesota Vikings – $35 Million AAV
  2. Nick Bosa, EDGE, San Francisco 49ers – $34 Million AAV
  3. A.J. Brown, WR, Philadelphia Eagles – $32 Million AAV
  4. Chris Jones, DL, Kansas City Chiefs – $31.75 Million AAV
  5. Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR, Detroit Lions – $30 Million AAV

That three of the five-highest-paid non-quarterbacks across the league are wide receivers, speaks to the strong offseason that the position is having across the NFL. Likewise, given the passing nature of today’s NFL, and the gifted nature of Jefferson, Brown, and St. Brown’s skill sets, this offseason has elevated wide receiver into the pantheon of premium positions across a roster.
