Texas A&M Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher was heavily criticized following a close loss to Alabama at home Saturday. Alabama escaped College Station with a 26-20 win. Some Aggies fans think Fisher might be coaching as if he has nothing to lose.
Both teams came into the contest 4-1, and this is considered to be one of the weaker Alabama teams under head coach Nick Saban. Fisher made a few conservative decisions in the loss.
The Aggies punted on a fourth down and one at the Alabama 45-yard line when the score was tied at 17. Fisher also decided to kick a field goal with 1:26 remaining in the game from the Alabama two-yard line on a fourth down instead of going for a touchdown. The team needed a touchdown and field goal in order to win the game.
Texas A&M fans have questions on Jimbo Fisher’s buyout
Fisher is now 43-23 with the Aggies. That’s not what the school expected when they signed Fisher to a 10-year deal worth $94.95 million in 2020. Fisher’s buyout this season would cost the Aggies $76.8 million.
Some fans think FIsher might be indifferent to how the school does because his buyout is ridiculously high. The conspiracy goes that Fisher can stand to receive the high buyout from the Aggies and then make money with a new gig.
The conspiracy seems far-fetched. Fisher still recruits at a high level and hires top-notch assistants to help the team win. Here are the best takes on X about Fisher’s buyout conspiracy.
Jimbo Fisher has to go. I’m convinced at this point he’s coaching to get that huge buyout. What a joke of a “leader” and a coach.

If I was trying to get fired and collect an $85M buyout I would manage this game as Jimbo Fisher has.
