Where do things stand in the Jonathan Taylor trade request?

The 2023 NFL season begins next week with the preseason slate officially over and the Indianapolis Colts are still looking for a trade partner for Jonathan Taylor.

The running back has expressed his displeasure with the franchise in terms of a new contract and has been given permission to seek a trade. But since then, nothing has materialized other than a few reports of teams interested. The most notable team interested in Jonathan Taylor is the Miami Dolphins.

But on Monday, Colts beat writer Stephen Holder reported that he believes there is a second team involved and this will go down to the wire.

Jonathan Taylor update: Talks continue and, as expected, this will go down to the wire.

One tidbit: I believe there to be a second team involved beyond the Dolphins, which would certainly change the dynamics.

When will a Jonathan Taylor trade get done?

Ideally for Taylor, he wants to be with a new team as soon as he can to practice and get ready for the upcoming season. The Colts want a fair package back in a trade including the rumored first-round pick price tag.

As of now, there hasn’t been much on Taylor and other destinations besides Miami. But with this ‘going down to the wire’, it opens up the door for another team to get involved and make a push for him.

The Colts have a self-imposed deadline of Tuesday, the day rosters need to be finalized to 53. And with the clock ticking, this could get very interesting in terms of a deal getting done.
