The Cleveland Browns reportedly locked up Joe Flacco Thursday after spending a few weeks dangerously flirting with the Super Bowl-winning quarterback. Flacco has been on the Browns practice squad since Nov. 20 after they lost Deshaun Watson for the season.
Flacco has technically been a free agent since he joined the Browns. So, any team was free to solicit Flacco a better offer for the quarterback to sign since he joined the practice squad. Flacco’s recent play must have whetted the appetite of other GMs around the league because the Browns signed him to the 53-man roster.
The Cleveland Browns finally sign their QB
According to Adam Schefter with ESPN, the Browns signed Flacco to a one-year contract worth up to $4.05 million with incentives. He will make $75,000 for each game he wins for the Browns for the rest of the season. Flacco would receive $1 million for an AFC Championship win and $2 million for a Super Bowl win.
