College football fans had Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy trending on social media Saturday as the Wolverines narrowly defeated Maryland. McCarthy came into the game as one of the top choices oddsmakers have for this season’s Heisman race.
McCarthy put up incredible stats in the early season. However, Michigan has faced tougher competition in November. He threw for only 60 yards against Penn State last Saturday. He was 12/23 passing for 141 yards and one interception against the Terrapins this week.
Those stats aren’t going to win McCarthy a Heisman. But he’s doing enough to keep Michigan’s playoff hopes alive at a time when the program is dealing with a major sign-stealing scandal.
McCarthy and the Michigan players should be given credit for how they’re dealing with their schedule with their head coach, Jim Harbaugh, watching games from a hotel room.

Is it just me or is JJ McCarthy overhyped and his stats this year are severely underwhelming.

JJ McCarthy is not a NFL QB at allllll. Please stop mocking this dude in ANY of the first 4 rounds, let alone the 1st.

Can we now stop this JJ McCarthy Heisman nonsense? That would be like sending Jabril Peppers and his 1 career college interception to New York.

JJ McCarthy every being in the Heisman race was criminal.
