Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce made an announcement Monday afternoon regarding his plans to retire before the 2024 season. There was much speculation the 36-year-old would retire following reports of an emotional meeting he had with teammates following the Eagles’ loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card round.
Jason Kelce could still play at a high level
Per Adam Schefter with ESPN, Kelce announced he was retiring from playing in the NFL.

Kelce is stepping down at the height of his prowess. He earned first-team All-Pro honors and a Pro Bowl appearance for the 2023 season. Kelce will retire a six-time first-team All-Pro and a seven-time participant in the Pro Bowl.
The Philadelphia Eagles drafted Kelce in the sixth round
Kelce wasn’t a big name coming into the league. The Eagles drafted him in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He stayed in Philadelphia for his entire playing career. Kelce was a significant part of the Eagles’ win in Super Bowl LII over the New England Patriots.
Kelce could be eyeing a media job…could Travis follow soon?
Kelce has been rumored to be of interest to several networks for a career in the media following his departure from playing center. There was buzz before the Super Bowl Jason could join his brother, Travis Kelce, on network television should Travis Kelce have chosen to retire after the 2023 season. Jason and Travis share a podcast, the New Heights podcast.
Following the Kansas City Chiefs win in the Super Bowl in February, Travis said he would return to the Chiefs for the 2024 season in hopes of winning a threepeat in Kansas City.
