The Pittsburgh Steelers are signing a wide receiver the Kansas City Chiefs recently released from their roster. The Steelers have now made a couple of roster moves at wide receiver this week after a disappointing showing for the unit at OTAs.
The Pittsburgh Steelers released a WR earlier this week

The Steelers released former New York Jets second-round pick Denzel Mims earlier in the week. Mims would go on to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars a day later. As previously discussed on GH, per Mark Kaboly with The Athletic, Mims was one of several wide receivers the Steelers were trying to fit into the WR2 role at OTAs:
The Steelers have not emerged with a clear No. 2 receiver option during the voluntary portion of OTAs. He thinks Van Jefferson is the No. 2 option at the moment:
Right now I’d say Van Jefferson, but to be honest, you can throw Watkins, Patterson, Calvin Austin III, Scotty Miller, Marquez Callaway and Denzel Mimsin there as well. Yeah, it’s not a good situation, and the Steelers know that. It would show a lack of awareness and urgency if they don’t add a legit No. 2 before the season starts. And I think they will.
The Steelers are expected to add more help at receiver in free agency or trade. San Francisco 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk is fans and analysts’ favorite target for the Steelers.
The Steelers signed a WR who was with the Chiefs this spring

With Mims’ roster spot open, the Steelers announced on their website they signed Jacob Copeland to a one-year deal:
Copeland spent time on the Steelers practice squad during the 2023 season.
Copeland originally signed with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent following the 2023 NFL Draft. He was released by the Titans, later signing with the Minnesota Vikings during training camp. Copeland was released prior to the start of the regular season. He also spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs this offseason
Copeland played at the University of Maryland in 2022 where he caught 26 passes for 376 yards and two touchdowns. He spent four seasons at the University of Florida where he had 86 receptions for 1,366 yards and nine touchdowns.
Copeland was released by the Chiefs in early May, before mandatory minicamp. Copeland has experience with the Steelers but none with the current group of quarterbacks. Copeland will receive passes from Russell Wilson and Justin Fields in training camp instead of Kenny Pickett, Mason Rudolph, and Mitch Trubisky.

The Steelers had a top 10 defense last year & a bottom 5 offense. What do they do? Spend $ on Queen, trade their best route runner for an average CB2, & thrift shop on offense. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Queen addition, but no one should be shocked if the O stinks again.
