The Jacksonville Jaguars took on the Chicago Bears in the NFL’s second London Game of the year. The Bears took care of the Jags in a dominant fashion. The Chicago Bears won 35-16 across the pond and controlled the entire game after the first quarter, smacking around Jacksonville in front of a full crowd at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Jacksonville came out swinging putting points on the board first and kicking a field goal on the opening drive other than that it was a very slow first quarter for both teams. Let us go over the highlights and what we noticed after Sunday’s matchup in London between these two teams.
Jacksonville Jaguars Vs Chicago Bears Recap:
Caleb Williams Has Best Game Of Career So Far
Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams had the best game of his rookie career against the Jaguars in week 6. He finished 23-of-29 for 226 yards, he threw four touchdowns and one interception. He was perfect from the pocket and found his target 21 of 23 clean pocket attempts for 191 yards. He was highly effective when throwing beyond the first-down marker, completing 9 of 10 passes for 114 yards, earning a huge victory for the Bears in dominating fashion.
Caleb Williams has been showing improvement week by week in his rookie campaign, and now the Bears ooze confidence going into their week 7 bye week. The Bears have won three consecutive games for the first time since 2020. They started the game slowly with a pair of three-and-outs and didn’t even score a first down in the first quarter. The rest of the game, however, the Bears did whatever they wanted and controlled the game.
The Chicago defense also stepped up, forcing two fumbles, and intercepting Trevor Lawrence once. The Bears have recorded a takeaway in eight straight games and held the Jags to just 68 rushing yards and 210 passing yards.
What To Make Of The Jags After The London Loss
The Jacksonville Jaguars struggled to get anything done this game as quarterback Trevor Lawrence went 23-25 for 234 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, then was eventually benched for Mac Jones in the Jag’s loss to the Chicago Bears. He is now 1-10 in his last 11 starts. This is after signing a five-year $275 million deal that made him one of the NFL’s highest-paid quarterbacks. Running back Travis Etienne Jr also continues to struggle finishing the game with just three carries for -1 yards before he re-injured his shoulder.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have failed to live up to expectations after owner Shad Khan called this team “the best team assembled by the Jacksonville Jaguars ever” after making key off-season moves. All eyes are now on Jaguars head coach Doug Peterson, as we see if he’s the next NFL head coach to get the boot after the New York Jets moved on from their head coach Robert Saleh earlier this week. The Chicago Bears now head into their bye week 4-2 then after they go on to face the Washington Commanders week 8.
That will be a highly anticipated matchup between the number one overall pick Caleb Williams versus the number two overall pick Jayden Daniels. Meanwhile, the Jags need to step things up and get something going as they will remain in London to face off against the New England Patriots next week. It remains to be seen if they can step it up and get their second win of the season.
