The Jacksonville Jaguars have had some issues regarding injuries to the quarterback position this season. Starter Trevor Lawrence has been dealing with multiple injuries in 2023, but they have not affected him to the point of being out for multiple weeks. Backup C.J. Beathard finished the game against the Cincinnati Bengals for Lawrence after he went out with a leg injury, which is the most time he has been out from the action. Now, the team has released one of their notable quarterbacks ahead of their week 15 game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Jaguars activated WR Jamal Agnew from injured reserve and waived QB Nathan Rourke from their active roster.

Jacksonville has released quarterback Nathan Rourke from their active roster just before their game against the Ravens. Rourke was a former CFL quarterback for the BC Lions in 2022 and even won Most Outstanding Canadian honors. He is also a two-time winner of the Jon Cornish Trophy, which is handed out annually to the top Canadian NCAA football player.

Rourke signed with Jacksonville at the beginning of this year and has been on and off of the roster all season long, which can mean that head coach Doug Pederson will sign the quarterback once again at some point. Beathard will remain as the backup to Lawrence and will be his replacement if he suffers another injury this season. Beathard has played in 30 games in his career and unanimously won the second-string position over Rourke.

With all of the injuries aside, Lawrence has played in every game for Jacksonville this season. Beathard has proven that he can be a solid backup option for the team if Lawrence were to miss any time as the regular season winds down.

Jacksonville is in a good position to clinch the AFC South division in the next couple of weeks if they can win their next couple of games. Their AFC South rivals, the Indianapolis Colts trail closely only one game behind them. Even if the Jaguars lose this week against the Ravens and the Colts pull away with a win, they will still be the top seed in the wild card.

Rourke is better than both jag QB’s. Rourke has a similar style to Lamar Jackson. He can escape from the pocket, make plays out of nothing, not afraid to throw the long ball and Run when the times right. He’s a complete all around QB. Jags made a big mistake.
