The Jacksonville Jaguars might have a quarterback issue on their hands after Monday night’s loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence suffered a scary ankle injury in the fourth quarter, and it was revealed today that he suffered a high ankle sprain.
Depending on the severity, the recovery time can be much longer than originally anticipated, which would mean backup C.J. Beathard would be the starter. However, there is one free-agent quarterback who was a Super Bowl MVP that could be an option to pick up and even has familiarity with head coach Doug Pederson.
It would not surprise me at all if the Jacksonville Jaguars sign Nick Foles if Trevor Lawrence injury is significant.

Jacksonville Jaguars Quarterback Rumors
Quarterback Nick Foles has emerged as a potential option to bring in if Lawrence is expected to miss significant time. Foles is a former Super Bowl champion with the Philadelphia Eagles back when he replaced the injured Carson Wentz and was able to bring his team to the promise land. His coach at the time was Pederson, who is now the head coach for Jacksonville, so he would have familiarity with how the offense is run.
Even if Lawrence can come back in the next week or two, Foles could be a better backup option for the team if something were to happen to Trevor again. He is currently a free agent and likely looking for a job anywhere he can get one, and being with Pederson in Jacksonville seems too good for him to pass up on should he get an offer.
Nick Foles Career
Foles has bounced around the league quite a bit throughout his 12-year career. He has been on the Eagles, Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs, Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts, and the then St. Louis Rams. Since winning the Super Bowl with Philadelphia in 2018, the quarterback has not found much success anywhere else in the league. He has 14,227 passing yards and 82 touchdowns throughout his career, and he has served as a great backup option in the NFL.
While this sounds like too good of an offer to pass up, the likelihood of this occurring this season is not very high. However, if Lawrence is not able to return as soon as the team would like, we could start to see this rumor heat up as the 2023 regular season winds down, and the Jaguars look to remain in the playoff mix in the AFC.
