There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the Jacksonville Jaguars since their Monday Night Football loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Late in that game, Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence suffered a high ankle sprain. As a result, it has put Lawrence’s status going forward up in the air.
Will Lawrence play in Week 14 against the Cleveland Browns? Will he miss significant time for the Jacksonville Jaguars? Lawrence’s latest quotes may help answer these questions.Trevor Lawrence’s Latest Quote
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network revealed Lawrence’s latest quote about his health. It could give a good indication if he will play next week. Here is what Trevor Lawrence had to say about his injury:
“I’ll never put myself or the team at higher risk that we aren’t going to do our best, because I can’t do my job.”
Along with that quote, Rapoport’s report includes a quote from Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson. Here is what Pederson had to say about Lawrence’s status:
“We have to weather this storm so to speak.”
What does this mean? It could mean that Lawrence is not going to rush back to the field if his injury is too severe. With Lawrence’s health being a priority, both he and Pederson seem to want to avoid worsening his current injury.
C.J. Beathard
If Trevor Lawrence can’t go, C.J. Beathard will be the man tasked with keeping the Jaguars’ ship afloat. He has played in the NFL for six years. However, Beathard has not started a game since 2020.
In 30 appearances, Beathard has 18 touchdown passes and 14 interceptions. However, his career record in games started is just 2-10.
The good news is that Beathard has experience in the NFL. On top of this, he has spent the last three years with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Now, that experience could be put to the test.
Jacksonville Jaguars Going Forward
Right now, the Jacksonville Jaguars lead the AFC South division with five weeks to go in the regular season. They have an 8-4 record. However, they only lead by one game over the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans.
So, what does their road look like going forward? Here is the Jaguars’ remaining schedule:
- at Cleveland Browns (7-5)
- vs. Baltimore Ravens (9-3)
- at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-7)
- vs. Carolina Panthers (1-11)
- at Tennessee Titans (4-8)
As you can see, the schedule gets quite difficult in the next two weeks. If Lawrence can’t play in those games, it could leave the Jaguars more vulnerable to missing the playoffs. Given the quote above, do not be surprised if Lawrence is not on the field in the upcoming weeks.
