The Jacksonville Jaguars finished a disappointing 2023-24 NFL season. With a loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 18, their final record was 9-8 on the season. As a result, the Jaguars ended up missing the playoffs. Now, Jacksonville has been forced to make some critical changes.
Jacksonville Jaguars Fire Offensive and Defensive Coaches
Yesterday, it was revealed that the Jacksonville Jaguars were parting ways with defensive coordinator Mike Caldwell. In addition, the Jaguars fired the majority of Caldwell’s staff. Now, there has been an additional announcement.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, two coaches on the offensive side of the ball have also been let go. These two coaches are RB coach Bernie Parmelee and assistant OL coach Todd Washington. Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson made a statement about these recent firings saying:
“Since our season’s end, I have made the difficult decision to relieve several members of the coaching staff – on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball — of their duties. I want to thank each of these coaches for their tireless efforts these last two seasons. Ultimately, I felt change was necessary to allow our football team to reach the goals for which we are capable.” -Doug Pederson
Jacksonville Jaguars Moving Forward
There is no doubt that this was a disappointing season for Jacksonville. After making the divisional round of the playoffs last year, they missed the playoffs entirely this season. The Jaguars took a step back and now look to get back to where they were after the 2022-23 NFL season.
