The Jacksonville Jaguars were in the driver’s seat to make the playoffs heading into Week 18. All they had to do was defeat the Tennessee Titans. Unfortunately, they failed to do this, losing by a final score of 28-20. Now, they have been eliminated from the playoffs.
Jacksonville Jaguars Complete Huge Collapse to Miss the Playoffs
Remember, there was a point during the 2023 NFL season when the Jaguars were 8-3. However, the Jaguars completely collapsed after this. They finished the season on a 1-5 skid while the Houston Texans surpassed them, going 4-2 in that same stretch.
One big aspect to this was that the Jacksonville Jaguars were missing WR Christian Kirk throughout this collapse. Coincidentally, they could not find a way to win without Kirk on the football field. Kirk either missed or did not finish the final six games of this 2023 season.
Jacksonville Jaguars Take a Step Back From 2022-23 Season
Last year, the Jacksonville Jaguars looked like they were on the rise. In their first year with head coach Doug Pederson and second season with QB Trevor Lawrence, the Jaguars managed to win a playoff game and make it to the divisional round. They lost to the Kansas City Chiefs, who went on to win the Super Bowl last season.
After that, Jacksonville had aspirations to take a step forward in 2023. Through their first 11 games, there looked to be a very real chance that they could do just that. However, considering how they finished this season, Jacksonville now has to take a long, hard look at themselves.
