Per the team’s injury report, the Jacksonville Jaguars ruled out quarterback Trevor Lawrence Friday afternoon for their game against the Carolina Panthers in Week 17. The Jaguars hinted at Lawrence’s unavailability for Sunday’s game when they signed Matt Barkley to the 53-man roster earlier this week.
The Jaguars expected Lawrence to be limited in practice Thursday, hoping he could progress enough this week to play the Panthers. However, Lawrence was unable to practice Thursday hours after head coach Doug Pederson said he expected the Jaguars star quarterback to be back in a limited capacity.
The Jacksonville Jaguars will turn to C.J. Beathard
Lawrence did not practice Friday either, and the team ruled him out for Week 18. Backup quarterback C.J. Beathard will get the start Sunday.

Lawrence has battled several injuries this season, but the A.C. joint will take longer to heal. The Jaguars, tied for the lead in the AFC South, will hope Bethard can play well enough so Lawrence can return to lead the team for the playoffs.
