The Jacksonville Jaguars may have missed the playoffs last season but they are keeping one of their top players that was going to become an unrestricted free agent. The team officially signed offensive guard Ezra Cleveland to a three-year, $28.5 million contract with $14.5 million guaranteed.
The Jags traded for him prior to last season’s trade deadline from the Cleveland Browns for a sixth-round pick. He has done a solid job with the Jacksonville Jaguars so far and is expected to be part of the team for a few years. At just 26 years old next season, he is still going to improve and continue to step up for the Jaguars in a competitive AFC South.
What does the Jacksonville Jaguars need to do this offseason?
The Jacksonville Jaguars have a lot of good pieces throughout the roster but they need to step up and continue to get better. With the team deciding that outside linebacker Josh Allen will be franchise tagged, they have some options but a majority of their options are under contract.
The biggest decision is going to be with wide receiver Calvin Ridley as he is set to become a free agent and likely will be the biggest wide receiver in the free agency pool. If he does leave for another team, the Jaguars have to find a top receiver option as Zay Jones and Christian Kirk are good second and third options.
On the defensive side of things, cornerback Tre Herndon is also an unrestricted free agent and with some solid players throughout the free agency pool, this Jaguars team has room for improvement.
