Jerry Jeudy of the Denver Broncos is an exciting and highly talented young wide receiver. In his first two years as a pro, he has yet to prove that he was worthy of a top 15 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. However, a significant change at the quarterback position could mean Jeudy is primed for a breakout year for the 2022 NFL season. Similar to that of Cooper Kupp, who transformed into an MVP candidate last season with the help of veteran Quarterback, Matthew Stafford.
Jeudy’s First Two Years in the League
The Denver Broncos selected Jerry Jeudy with the 15th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Three years into the league, and Jeudy hasn’t exactly lived up to the billing. In Jeudy’s rookie season, he tallied 52 receptions, 856 yards, and just three touchdowns. Jeudy also coughed up the ball twice in his rookie campaign. Jeudy’s second season in the NFL was worse than his first. Jeudy suffered a high-ankle sprain in the Broncos 2021 season opener and missed almost half of the season. Jeudy not only dealt with the injury all year, but also had to deal with subpar quarterback play. Between Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater, Jeudy hasn’t exactly been set up for success. However, that all changes this year with the addition of Russell Wilson. Here is where we ask the question, could Jerry Jeudy be the fantasy football league-winning wide receiver that Cooper Kupp was in 2021.

The similarities of Jerry Jeudy and Cooper Kupp
Cooper Kupp won thousands of fantasy football leagues for players in 2021. Kupp’s statistics of 145 receptions, 1947 receiving yards, and 16 touchdowns were a product of not only incredible individual talent, but also a perfect storm of the changes happening around him. In the offseason prior to the 2021 NFL season, the Los Angeles Rams traded for pro bowl quarterback Matthew Stafford. This offseason in 2022, the Denver Broncos traded for pro bowl quarterback Russell Wilson. Kupp had an average draft position of around 60 in fantasy football leagues last year. Kupp’s counterpart with the rams last year, wide receiver Robert Woods, had an average draft position of about 55. This year, Jerry Jeudy holds an average draft position of around 70, according to Cbssports.com. Courtland Sutton’s average draft position is 50. While Kupp was the beneficiary of a pass heavy offense, as well as an injury to Robert Woods that sidelines him for roughly half the season. Jerry Jeudy finds himself in a position where making a massive leap into fantasy stardom isn’t that unrealistic.
Jerry Jeudy could very well be a league winner for thousands of people this year. While it’s tough to predict Jeudy making the same leap that Cooper Kupp did from the 2020 season to the 2021 season, there isn’t a better candidate than the third year receiver wearing #10 for the Denver Broncos.
