The Los Angeles Rams are the embodiment of an NFL M*A*S*H unit ahead of Sunday’s Week 4 contest in Chicago, but quarterback Caleb Williams and the Bears received some encouraging news when it comes to one of the franchise’s top offensive weapons.
While the Rams could be without some combination of tight end David Allen, wide receiver Cooper Kupp, guard Jonah Jackson, Puka Nacua, and others, the Bears could be getting a contributor back into the fold and back onto the field.
Bears wide receiver Keenan Allen has missed the past two weeks while dealing with a heel injury, but is set to practice on Wednesday, adding another potentially explosive target to Williams’ repertoire.
Prior to getting injured, Allen had caught four passes for 29 yards, but figures to play a vital role in Williams’ continued development as a reliable veteran pass-catcher.
Williams has gone through some growing pains in terms of timing and downfield accuracy in the vertical passing game, but getting added reps with Allen back in the lineup can only help the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft.
Allen has caught 908 passes through the first 11-plus seasons of his career, for 10,559 yards with 59 touchdown receptions. He’ll look to round out the Bears’ receiving corps alongside rookie Rome Odunze and Pro Bowler D.J. Moore, beginning this week.
