Anthony Richardson, The Sensation
If you don’t follow College Football, you’re likely not familiar with the name: Anthony Richardson. You may remember his viral video of him doing a backflip with ease before a game. Don’t believe me? See for yourself:

Anthony Richardson, The Player
Anthony Richardson, a dual threat QB standing at 6’4″ and weighing 232 pounds was a 4-star recruit out of Gainesville, Florida. Richardson rated the 6th Dual Threat QB and 14th QB overall in the 2020 recruiting class. He received eight offers from: Cincinnati, Louisville and Boston College – he committed to Florida in April 2019.
Richardson redshirted his freshmen year (2020) and served as a backup in 2021 to Emory Jones despite several poor performances from the former. As a backup, Richardson earned a spot on the All-SEC Freshmen team.
Richardson played in 8 games (started 1) and completed 38 passes on 64 attempts, amassing 529 yards passing and 6 touchdowns to his 5 interceptions. He flashed his dual threat ability by carrying the ball 51 times gaining 401 yards rushing and three touchdowns.
Anthony Richardson, The Captain
With the firing of Dan Mullen and departure of Emory Jones, this year, this is Anthony Richardson’s offense. Now with new coaches Billy Napier (HC) and Rob Sale (OC) there are high hopes for what Anthony Richardson can bring to the offense and capitalize on his dual-threat abilities. Gone are the days of Kyle Pitts and Kadarius Toney, Richardson flanked by former 5-star WR Justin Shorter, transfer (Arizona St) Ricky Pearsall and Trent Whittmore, whom are 3-star recruits. In the backfield, he’ll receive help from transfer (Louisiana) Montrell Johnson Jr., true freshmen Trevor Etienne and Nay’Quan Wright (4-star).
In his first game of the season, Anthony Richardson led to his team to a huge upset victory over then-#7 Utah and quarterback Cameron Rising. While he only completed 17 of 24 passing attempts for 168 yards, he dominated on the ground. He rushed for 106 rushing yards on 11 rushing attempts with three touchdowns, including the game winning TD.

Anthony Richardson, The Heisman
Since Richardson and company knocked off #7 Utah, last Saturday they have certainly created buzz around their team. They have propelled themselves from unranked to #12 in the recent AP poll and Richardson’s Heisman odds improved to +2000. I noted Anthony Richardson as a must-watch player this year:

My current comparison for Richardson is Cam Newton, but he should have the media buzzing as Lamar Jackson did. Richardson does have the advantage of being in the SEC which will help build his buzz, only time will tell if he can live up to his hype.
