Adrian Amos: Longtime NFL Safety
Amos, a fifth-round draft pick in the 2015 NFL draft, played his first four NFL seasons with the Chicago Bears. The Penn State product started every game as a rookie, recording 67 tackles and two plays defended. Amos recorded his first interception in 2017, a 90-yard pick-six off Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco. Amos signed with the Green Bay Packers in 2019, spending three seasons with the rival club. The six-foot safety started all 66 games, tallying 281 solo tackles, 30 passes defended, 15 TFLs, seven interceptions, and four sacks.
The 30-year-old inked a one-year, $1.75 million contract with the New York Jets this offseason. However, the veteran saw his role virtually decrease in New York. He started just three games for the Jets this season while having more of a focus on special teams.
Houston Texans: Safety Depth Chart
Adrian Amos will provide depth and leadership in the Houston secondary. The Houston Texans house Jimmie Ward and Deandre Houston-Carson at the free safety position. Ward has started seven games for the Texans this season, accounting for 41 tackles, three passes defended, and an interception. He spent his first nine seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. Meanwhile, Houston-Carson signed with the Houston in late October. He has 22 tackles across nine games with the Texans and the Baltimore Ravens.
Amos will also provide depth with safeties M.J. Stewart and Eric Murray on the injured reserve (IR). Stewart suffered a fractured shoulder in Week 9, while Murray has a knee injury.
