The Houston Texans have been one of the more interesting teams during this off season. After drafting the obvious offensive ROTY in C.J. Stroud at #2 overall, and shockingly trading up to get the defensive ROTY in Will Anderson at #3, the Texans went from a joke to legit in just one year! Add the DeMeco Ryans effect in the mix and you have a young, hungry bunch that are a few pieces away from becoming a serious Super Bowl contender.
There’s no hiding the fact that the Texans running game could use a boost. Damien Pierce had a suprisingly solid rookie campaign but to say he is a franchise running back may be a bit of a stretch. Devin Singletary had a nice first year with Houston, complimenting the running game as expected. But Singletary has not had that “X” factor since he has been in the league.
So where do the Texans go from here?
They have the money (70 million in cap space) to go out and get a big name running back that can make a difference right away. To have a running game that can take the pressure off of Stroud and keep him in the league longer, is something that needs to be a priority for Nick Caserio (Houston’s GM).
Who is the best fit?
Enter Saquon Barkley.
Barkley has not, in my opinion, had a chance to blossom while being in New York. With marginal QB play and an at best average coaching staff, the weight of New York has been on Barkley’s shoulders since his stellar ROTY performance in 2018.
The Texans have amazing young receivers in Tank Dell and Nico Collins and an established TE in Dalton Schultz. Add Barkley and some help on the offensive line and the Texans are a top 10 offense ready to make some noise. Watch out for this team! Look for them to host a few playoff games in the 2024 season!

Texans are a team on the rise. If they can get a few more players they will be Super Bowl contenders.
Only time will tell. But OSU tends to produce some good athletes so it will be interesting to see how he performs in the next coming years.
