The Houston Texans have made it a mission to improve their offensive tackle depth after trading Laremy Tunsil to the Washington Commanders. On Wednesday, Houston signed Cam Robinson to a one-year, $12 million contract worth up to $14.5 million. The expectation is for Robinson to replace Tunsil as the starting left tackle and C.J. Stroud’s blindside protector for the 2025 season.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Texans signed Trent Brown to a one-year deal worth up to $3 million. Brown is a versatile offensive lineman who can play both offensive tackle positions. He could compete with Blake Fisher for the starting right tackle job this offseason, assuming Tytus Howard plays left guard next season. He could also compete for the swing tackle job.

Trent Brown entered the 2024 season as the starting right tackle for the Cincinnati Bengals. Unfortunately, Brown’s reign as the starting right tackle for the Bengals ended prematurely, playing a career-low three games. He suffered a season-ending torn patellar tendon in Week 3 against the Washington Commanders. The good news is that he is expected to make a full recovery and be ready for the start of the 2025 season.
