Eyes immediately turned towards Greg Olsen the moment Tom Brady signed a lucrative deal to become Fox Sports’ top NFL analyst. The seasoned broadcaster has built a reputation in and around the league for his analysis.
With Tom officially on board to join the network’s No. 1 NFL team alongside Kevin Burkhardt, many began asking what the future with the network would be.
Olsen recently made his point clear, spelling an interesting future for NFL media.
Greg Olsen wants to call top NFL games despite Tom Brady’s promotion
The former Carolina Panthers tight end appeared on the Dan Patrick Show to talk about all things football. However, the interview veered towards his future with Fox Sports now that Brady is officially on board.
Greg Olsen not going quietly into that good night. “I want to call top games.” Great exchange on Dan Patrick’s show. He did XFL games, non-A games, and climbed to the top. He’s awesome. pic.twitter.com/XOdMr8PH00

Olsen understood that Brady was going to take his spot in the network.
“Two years ago, when everything unfolded, I’ve known Tom was coming,” the 38-year-old explained. “That part of it we always knew. It was a matter of when.”
However, he quickly made it clear that he doesn’t want to be delegated to the B team, believing he’s done enough to warrant a spot among the top voices in NFL broadcast media.
“I want to call top games,” Olsen said. “I aspired to be a top broadcaster. I really thought I could do it. I thought that, given the opportunity and the change, I could show people that I could do it.
Greg Olsen believes narratives have changed around him
The moment Brady first retired from the league, many thought Olsen’s appointment to Fox’s A team was just a placeholder for Brady. However, Olsen believes that he’s done enough of a job to merit a spot in the broadcast booth.
“Over the last two years, I think we’ve changed the narrative,” Olsen reasoned. “I think we’ve changed [the thinking] where, ‘Hey, this is just a placeholder,’ to ‘No, this guy could do it.’
He also stressed that his ambitions haven’t changed:
“So my goals and aspirations, if anything, I’ve even gotten more committed. I want to call top games, I want to call games in front of 57 million people. I want to dive into the biggest moments and why it’s happening. I feel like we’ve done as good a job as anybody in the industry over the last couple of seasons.”
This feels like a declaration from Greg Olsen that he’s open to the chance of finding a new home. After this bold claim, it won’t be surprising to hear other networks scrambling to get in touch and try to win him over.
