The Green Bay Packers improved to 1-1 on the season behind a grueling 16-10 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday afternoon. It was the second-hottest game in Lambeau Field history and featured several offensive linemen throwing up due to the intense heat. Center Josh Myers even puked on the ball before snapping it on a crucial third down, leading quarterback Malik Willis to run with the ball instead of throwing it for a possible first down.

Despite the heat, running was the theme of the day in Green Bay, as Willis and running back Josh Jacobs led the Packers to their first win of the season and, in doing so, into the NFL record books.

The Green Bay Packers Are the First Team in NFL History with 800 Wins

The win over the Colts on Sunday was not only the Packers’ first win of the 2024 NFL regular season, it was also the 800th win in the history of the franchise.

With the victory, the #Packers became the first team in NFL history to reach 800 regular-season wins.

So they have that going for them….which is nice.

The Chicago Bears were the first team to win 700 games in NFL history and are currently second with 794. The New York Giants are third with 721.

No other team has won at least 700 games.

The only other teams with at least 600 wins are the Pittsburgh Steelers (673), Washington Commanders (630), Philadelphia Eagles (625), and Los Angeles Rams (613).

The Detroit Lions can join the 600-win club this year as they have 592 wins all-time.

The Green Bay Packers Made NFL and Franchise History with the Running Game

The Packers were able to achieve their 800th franchise victory thanks to their running game. With Jordan Love out, and the Colts shaky run defense, the game plan called for a heavy emphasis on the run.

Josh Jacobs led the Packers with 151 yards on 32 carries while Willis added 41 rushing yards. In total, Green Bay gained 261 yards on the ground, most of them coming in the first half of the game.

Accorind to NFL analyst Benjamin Solak of ESPN, their 237 rushing yards at halftime were the third-most rushing yards in a half this century:

Jacobs also set a new franchise record on Sunday. According to Aaron Nagler, Jacobs’ 235 rushing yards through his first two games with the team is the most in franchise history:

Josh Jacobs posted 151 rushing yards on 32 carries against the Colts, giving him 235 rushing yards this season. That is the most in franchise history by a player in his first two games in a Green Bay uniform, topping the previous high of RB Raymont Harris (158 yards in 1998). pic.twitter.com/i7Ei5hRujh

It will be interesting to see how much Jacobs gets the ball in Week Three as the Tennessee Titans have up 4.6 yards per carry to Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets on Sunday and 3.8 yards per carry to the Chicago Bears in Week One.
