The Green Bay Packers dominated the Arizona Cardinals to the tune of a 34-13 victory on Sunday afternoon. In his first game back after serving a one-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team, wide receiver Romeo Doubs had three receptions for 49 yards and two touchdowns. Christian Watson, who did not play last week due to a low ankle sprain, had three receptions for 68 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, the Packers continued to force turnovers at a high rate. While Xavier McKinney saw his interception streak come to an end (he had five in the team’s first five games), Green Bay’s defense forced and recovered three fumbles.
One of the biggest stories of the day, though, was the play of quarterback Jordan Love who continues to prove that the Packers made the right choice when they named him the starter last year.
Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Has Thrown 4 Touchdown Passes in Back-to-Back Home Games
In addition to his two touchdown passes to Doubs and his one to Watson, Love also threw another touchdown to second-year wide receiver Jayden Reed, giving him four on the day.
Love’s four touchdown performance was significant for two reasons. First, he is the only quarterback in the NFL with multiple four-touchdown games this season. This is fairly impressive considering that he missed two games with a sprained MCL.
Additionally, Love became the first Packers quarterback since Brett Favre, 29 years ago, to throw four touchdown passes in back-to-back home games. Of course, this means that it is a feat that Aaron Rodgers never accomplished.
Love threw four touchdowns (and three interceptions) in the Packers’ Week Four loss to the Minnesota Vikings in his first game back from injury. After winning on the road against the Los Angeles Rams last week (he threw two touchdowns in that game), Love threw four more at home against the Cardinals on Sunday.
Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Made an Incredible (and Perhaps Ill-Advised) Touchdown Throw to Romeo Doubs
It is somewhat ironic that Love achieved a touchdown mark that Green Bay has not seen since Favre. After sitting behind Rodgers for three years, fans expected him to inherit some of the future Pro Football Hall of Famer’s traits, like taking care of the ball and avoiding risky throws.
It appears, though, that Love has a great deal of Favre in him. His 53-yard bomb to Reed against the Rams had fans comparing him to the Packers legend, but also received a zero-grade from quarterbacks coach Tom Clements because it was a high-risk throw.
One must assume the same will be said of this throw to Doubs:

Doubs was able to adjust and turn the pass into a touchdown by extending his body as he fell to the ground. It was an incredible play, and one that certainly harkens back to the days of Favre under center in Green Bay.
