The Green Bay Packers improved to 3-2 on the season with their 24-19 victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. The team was led, offensively, by tight end Tucker Kraft and wide receiver Jayden Reed. Both had four receptions, which tied for the team lead. Kraft had 88 receiving yards and two touchdowns while Reed had 78 yards.
As fans are well aware, the Packers were able to pull off the victory without their two starting wide receivers. Christian Watson missed the game after suffering a high-ankle sprain in Week Four against the Minnesota Vikings. Romeo Doubs was not with the team because he was suspended by the organization.
The Green Bay Packers Suspended Romeo Doubs for Their Game vs the Los Angeles Rams
Last week, Doubs skipped practice on Thursday and Friday after being a full participant on Wednesday. When the team performed a wellness check on him, they found him at his home.
According to reports, Doubs was upset with his role on the team. Fans were surprised by Doubs’ actions because he is typically an easy-going player that does not cause any drama.
In a statement released last Saturday, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said:
“Unfortunately, we had to make the difficult decision to suspend Romeo for this week’s game. His decisions and actions during the week negatively impacted the team and required us to take this action. While we are certainly disappointed, we are confident that we will be able to move forward in a positive manner. Romeo is a valuable member of our team and we look forward to welcoming him back next week.”
On Monday, Doubs met with head coach Matt LaFleur. While the wide receiver has not been available for comment since is suspension, the Packers coach reported that their meeting went well and that they had a very positive conversation and are moving forward.
Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Christian Watson Also Talked to Romeo Doubs
After practice on Wednesday, Watson told reporters that he, too, wanted to talk to Doubs about what happened last week. While he would not reveal exactly what was said, he did have some interesting things to say:
Christian Watson said he spoke with Romeo Doubs before Wednesday’s practice. Partly to let his teammate know he’s here for him. Partly to clear air.
“I know there’s some things he’s not going to want to hear in the moment. But I’m going to say it anyways because we’re a family.” pic.twitter.com/m4LwiNDiIu

“There will probably be a few bumps in the road, trying to get that togetherness and that family feeling back. But, at the end of the day, he’s back in the building and I know that his goal is also to win a football game this week. So, we all have the same team goal. I think we’re all pushing for that; it’ll bring us back together.
“We all have our own individual goals, so you really never truly know what somebody’s thinking and I’ll never wanna talk down and on anyone’s mental health. I don’t really still know the exact specifics of the situation, but whenever someone’s going through something, they do things that you wouldn’t really expect from them.”
It is interesting that Watson brought up mental health, and perhaps he should not have in this situation. Many fans speculated that whatever was going on had to do with Doubs’ mental health.
