Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love suffered a knee injury of some kind in the final seconds of his team’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week One. The game, which was played in Sao Paolo, Brazil, ended with a score of 34-29 in favor of the Eagles, but Love was unable to be on the field as the Packers attempted a Hail Mary at the end.

Love was taken down by two Eagles defenders and remained on the field’s surface. Team trainers had to help him to the sideline, and many Packers fans feared the worse.

Seeing any player on any team go down with an injury is always unfortunate. For Packers fans, though, this was especially tough because of the hope and excitement that surrounded the team going into Week One. The fact that Love also signed a $220 million contract extension also made the injury difficult to watch.

If there is any Packers player, current or former, that knows a thing or two about knee injuries, it is David Bakhtiari. The five-time All-Pro left tackle was released following the 2023 NFL season, a year in which he only played one game. In his last three seasons in Green Bay, Bakhtiari played just 13 games due to a torn ACL that he initially suffered in December of 2020.

Following his surgery to repair the ACL, Bakhtiari suffered numerous setbacks and other injuries that kept him out for the better part of three years.

On Friday night, Bakhtiari posted the following message to Love on social media:

.@jordan3love hate to see this. Hate all injuries but it sucks a bit more to quality human beings like yourself. 🙏🏼 for you and always know I’m rooting for you brotha. J💚

    — David Bakhtiari (@DavidBakhtiari) September 7, 2024

As one can see from his message, Bakhtiari thinks very highly of Love, as both a player and a person.

Love will have more testing done on his knee when the team arrives home in Green Bay later today. Those tests will determine the severity of his injury and how long he might be out. He is not believed to have torn his ACL.
