Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur has seen a lot of success since he took over the team in 2019. Back-to-back 13 win seasons in his first two years were followed by a disappointing season in 2022. This year is a totally different team. Gone are Aaron Rodgers, Randall Cobb, and a lot of other veterans. Young players now populate this roster and it has LaFleur feeling like he just took over the team.
Green Bay Packers Matt LaFleur On 2023 Season
Even though it feels a little weird, LaFleur is excited about this opportunity.
“It feels like Year 1, quite frankly. It feels like we’re right back where we started when I first got hired here. That’s exciting. I think there’s a lot of excitement that goes along with that. We’re going to coach these guys hard, and we expect them to show up with a great attitude every day and give everything they can.”
LaFleur has had to meld his offense with Rodgers play style in his first three years. Now, he has a chance to show what he can do when the offense is totally his.
A Big Year For LaFleur
It’s time to show that the back-to-back 13 win seasons were no fluke. Many have not given LaFleur credit for the wins. They give all the credit to Rodgers and his brilliance in passing the football. While some of that is true, LaFleur does deserve some credit and now he gets a chance to show his worth. He has a young roster that can learn his offense and hopefully execute it to perfection.
The Green Bay Packers are hoping that Matt LaFleur and the rest of the coaching staff can take all of this young talent and turn it into a Super Bowl roster. If they can, this team could be back to competing in no time.
