With Aaron Rodgers no longer in the picture for the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears fans everywhere entered the new season with a lot of hope. The general belief among the Chicago faithful was that it was now their time to dominate their bitter rivals as an untested Jordan Love takes over the reins in Green Bay.
Well, as it turns out, neither Love nor the Packers got the script. Green Bay came out with a massive statement win in Week 1, outlasting the Bears, 38-20.
Jordan Love’s Massive QB1 Debut for Green Bay Packers
In his first game as Green Bay’s new cornerstone quarterback, Love did not disappoint. Not one bit. He finished the contest with 15-of-27 passes for 245 yards. He also logged three touchdowns with zero interceptions in a tantalizing debut that would make even Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre proud.
Love had his fingerprints all over this massive victory as the Pakcers now make it nine straight wins over their rivals. Sunday also marked Green Bay’s fifth consecutive victory in Chicago’s Soldier Field.
Jordan Love has made it abundantly clear that he intends to carry on the legacies of the two great quarterbacks that came before him, particularly when it comes to their history against the Bears.
“I definitely yesterday was visualizing just having a win, coming off the field after a win; I kept telling myself, ‘I’m going to play great, we’re all going to play great,'” Love said, via Rob Demovsky of ESPN. “That’s what I kept telling myself over and over again. And woke up today doing the same thing, just visualizing that we were going to get this win and we were going to play great today.”

Chicago fans can’t be feeling good after this loss — and for good reason. The silver lining for them is that they will get a shot at turning things around when they battle the Packers again later this season. You can be sure that Bears fans have already encircled that date on their calendars. That’s going to be on January 7th, on the final day of the regular season.
