Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers remain in talks on a contract extension for the wunderkind quarterback who led the franchise to the NFC Divisional Playoffs in 2024, his first season as a starting quarterback, but he might not be on the field anytime soon.
Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst offered an update on where things stand between the franchise and Love as training camp is set to get underway.
According to Gutekunst, Love won’t be practicing with his Packers teammates until he puts pen to paper on a new deal. However, Gutekunst painted an encouraging picture of where things currently stand.
“I feel we’re close,” Gutekunst said of the ongoing negotiations.

Love is officially eligible to sign a long-term contract extension for the first time, after playing out last season on a deal that included $13.5 million guaranteed. This season, Love is set to collect $10 million, under his current deal.
Once Love and the Packers do agree to terms on a new extension, he could be in line to become the highest-paid quarterback across the NFL.
