The Green Bay Packers are coming off a heartbreaking loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Despite this loss, QB Jordan Love and the Packers managed to accomplish more than expected of them this season. Now, the most recent rumors reveal that Love could get rewarded for those accomplishments.
Jordan Love Could Get a Contract Extension
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Green Bay Packers plan to make Jordan Love one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL. Love has a chance to get this in May when he is eligible for a contract extension. This comes after reports earlier this season that the Packers were questioning what to do with Love after this season.
Green Bay Packers Resurgence
It is amazing how quickly things can change in the NFL. At one point, the Packers were 3-6 this season. However, they ended up winning six of their final eight games to clinch the final playoff spot in the NFC. Green Bay took advantage of this, becoming the first 7-seed to ever win in the playoffs before eventually falling to the 49ers.
Jordan Love’s Improvement
Love himself showed significant improvement in the second half of the season. After throwing 10 interceptions in his first nine games, Love threw just one interception in his final eight regular season games this season. So, how did he do in the playoffs?
His playoff debut could not have gone any better. Love had 272 passing yards and three touchdown passes in a dominant win over the Dallas Cowboys.
However, last night showed that Love still had work to do. He had just 194 passing yards, two touchdown passes, and two costly interceptions in that game. Despite this, these rumors suggest that the Packers believe in Love’s upside.
