The Green Bay Packers are entering a new era with Jordan Love and longtime Packer Elgton Jenkins is excited about it. While the team has embraced the youth movement especially on offense, there are still a lot of veterans left on this team. Jenkins went on Good Morning Football this morning and talked about the excitement around the organization.
Green Bay Packers Elgton Jenkins Excited About Jordan Love
Jenkins admitted that the team will miss Aaron Rodgers but Love has been such a likeable teammate over the past three years that everyone seems to be cheering for Love to succeed. Jenkins went ever further and called out many youngsters on the team.
“Man, I was looking at Luke Musgrave and Jayden Reed a lot. Our weapons, man, they got some serious speed, Jayden and Luke. Just being able to see them out there running and getting vertical up the field, running routes and stuff like that, it really put a smile on my face. I’m ready to see what’s in store for those guys. I feel like the future’s bright for those guys. … Luke Musgrave and Jayden Reed, I’ve got a lot of high expectations for those guys in Year 1, for sure.”
One thing he is noticing is the speed on this team. Between Christian Watson and the aforementioned Musgrave and Reed, the Packers are quietly building a very speedy team.
Can The Packers Compete In The Division?
Jenkins said that, “Winning the division is always the standard.” Obviously the Packers are going to try and do that but it is a tall task. Minnesota has the crown and while they lost some pieces, still have a solid roster. The Lions are the odds-on favorite and the Bears are much improved. Pair that with some growing pains from a young team and it could be a challenge to compete in the division. However, if everything clicks, this could be a dangerous team.
The Green Bay Packers have to be happy about all of the positivity coming from the team about Love. Elgton Jenkins isn’t the only teammate who has praised Love. He has the confidence of the team, now it is time to prove it on the field.
