The Minnesota Gophers land 3-star quarterback Aaron Philo from Georgia. Philo is a hard commit and is 6-2 200 lbs. quarterback out of Prince Avenue Chrisitan School in Bogart, Georgia (just outside of Athens). Newly promoted co-offensive coordinator Greg Harbaugh Jr. recruited Aaron Philo. Notable schools the Gophers beat out included Wake Forest, South Carolina, Duke, UCF, James Madison, and Coastal Carolina.

High School Stats
In 2022, Philo went 274-out-of-397 (69% completion percentage), throwing for 4,598 yards, 54 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. He also rushed 68 times for 361 yards and eight touchdowns. Also, during the season, Philo had six games where he threw for five touchdowns or more in a game. Philo won the Peach State class A division one offensive player of the year in 2022. He also led his school to a 14-0 record and won the state championship. In the state championship game, he went 21-of-32 for 477 yards, six touchdowns, and one pick.

Georgia Pipeline
Since P.J. Fleck became the head coach at the University of Minnesota in 2017, the Gophers have recruited 15 players from Georgia. Of those 15, 14 were three-star players, and the other was four-star recruit Rashod Bateman. Other notable players recruited from Georgia are Micheal Dixon (DB), Lemeke Brockington (WR), Terell Smith (CB), and Braelen Oliver (LB). In 2018 the Gophers had five recruits from Georgia, including Rashod Bateman.
Of the notable mentioned above, two transferred away this year in Micheal Dixon (Rutgers) and Braelen Oliver (Georgia Tech). The Ravens drafted Rashod Bateman in 2021, and Terell Smith is getting ready for this year’s draft. Brockington is the only player still with the Gophers and shows some promise at receiver, but will he have to fight for playing time in a loaded receiving corps. Overall, the Gophers and Fleck have done a great job recruiting from Georgia, landing some big players who have gone to play in the NFL. Will Aaron Philo be the next star from Georgia at Minnesota? Only time will tell.
