The Georgia football program is 4-1 this season, sitting firmly inside the AP Poll Top 25 and eying their sixth season of eleven or more wins since 2017. During that span, the leadman for the Georgia Bulldogs remains Kirby Smart, the former Alabama Crimson Tide defensive coordinator turned three-time SEC Coach of the Year. Georgia annually houses one of the country’s most complete and elite rosters on the field. However, off the field, the Bulldogs continue to make headlines for all the wrong reasons.
On Tuesday, Georgia football again found themselves in hot water, with yet another player getting arrested on a misdemeanor assault charge. Since Smart’s inaugural season, the team has had 50 incidents or arrests for DUI or careless driving, while former wideout RaRa Thomas was arrested for domestic violence this past offseason. Georgia fans and college football devotees are nearing wit’s end with the culture problem surrounding the top-ranked Bulldogs.
Georgia Fans Irate with Arrest of WR Colbie Young
According to Everything Georgia:
Georgia wide receiver Colbie Young was arrested this morning on charges of battery and assault against an unborn child. He is the 7th Georgia football player to be arrested this year.
In the early hours of Tuesday morning, police arrived to detain Young on battery and assault charges against an unborn child. Per reports, the victim alleges Young forcefully attacked her with intent to inflict injury on herself and her unborn child. Young joins Smael Mondon, Bo Hughley, Sacovie White, Daniel Harris, and Trevor Etienne as the Georgia football players arrested this season. The 2024 college football campaign has still yet to reach its middle point.
Since 2023, Georgia football has had north of 20 arrests or incidents involving the police. Young, the latest to have a run-in with the law, is a transfer from the Miami Hurricanes, who has collected 11 receptions for 149 yards and two touchdowns. With Georgia’s inability to correct legal issues since the beginning of Kirby Smart’s tenure, many fans have relentlessly put the bench boss on blast following the newest arrest:
At some point you look at Kirby Smart here no?

What is wrong with these young men… the UGA athletic department needs to advocate and enforce the recruiting of quality athletes via thorough background checks, etc… this is not a good look… just sayin'… -DW @GeorgiaFootball @universityofga

They are all thugs and hooligans. School won't do anything about it, cops won't do anything about it, coach won't do anything about it… yeah it should get better on its own for sure
