The Georgia football program has become a powerhouse since hiring head coach Kirby Smart in 2016. Seven years of finishing in the top ten of the AP Poll, six seasons of at least 11 wins, and two national titles, the Georgia Bulldogs, alongside rival Alabama, are the class of college football. Last weekend, Georgia sidestepped an upset loss on the road against the Kentucky Wildcats, moving to 3-0 and remaining the top-ranked team in the country. However, for all their success on the field, the Bulldogs have had an equal amount of off-the-field issues.
From 2023 onward, the Georgia football team has had 25 legal incidents regarding reckless driving. Since his hiring in 2016, there have been nearly 50 incidents or arrests for DUI or careless driving, including the deaths of Devin Willock and staff member Chandler LeCroy in a high-speed accident after their 2022 title victory. On Tuesday, Kirby Smart addressed the reckless driving issues, sharing his disappointment but also reassuring the proper procedures are in place to help curb the problem. However, college football fans were left unimpressed, taking aim at the two-time national title-winning coach.
Fans Dumbfounded by Georgia Football HC Kirby Smart
According to On3:
Kirby Smart addressed Georgia’s reckless driving issue: “We continue to have guys make poor decisions, you know? It’s very unfortunate.”
Smart continued, saying, “I know that our staff, myself, continue to drive home the sensitive nature of it. It’s certainly a deadly speed when you’re talking about the speed that he was traveling at.” Smart also reiterated that he plans to keep his methods in play discipline and that Georgia football takes the matter of reckless driving with the utmost seriousness.
Smart points at the 2023 suspension of Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint following an arrest for reckless driving and speeding charges as the first of its nature. However, most college football fans do not consider Smart’s words genuine, especially with Daniel Harris’ arrest for driving over 100 miles per hour just last week. Fans quickly jumped on Georgia football head coach Kirby Smart, sharing their frustration with him and the state of the country’s best college football program.
Maybe as the head coach & leader of young men, you should take some accountability Kirby
Just imagine if Colorado had even HALF of the off-field issues that Georgia has, Coach Prime would be getting torn apart by the media.
So why does Kirby get a pass when Deion would get…

“If only I, as the head coach, could do something to deter it?!?”- Kirby Smart

He did not care about Stetson Bennett while he was at Georgia. All he cares about is winning. Sad these players don't have leadership off the field, there just tools for a ring.

Anytime a coach is fired we hear “it’ll take a couple of recruiting cycles to change the culture” …… culture starts and ends with Kirbs… take a hard look in the mirror, bro!!

Maybe act like you care…have the same concern you have of losing to KY on the road. Football is life though…right Coach?

Imma be honest, that’s a reflection of you and your coaching staff.
Get it together man.

Kirby Smart is failing his players on the personal front of things. Part of your job as a coach is to develop boys into mature and responsible young adults. If all you are known for in the end is winning football games then you have failed as a person.
